    Adoption UK is a national voluntary self-help group supporting families before, during and after adoption. Adoption UK was established in 1971 and is the only national self-help group run by and for adoptive parents offering support before, during and after adoption. In November 2003 it launched a web-based online community providing people with another way of receiving and giving support to each other.

    We provide independent services to birth relatives in North London. If you live in the following areas we can help you: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.

    BAAF is a leading UK charity working for children separated from their birth family. It promotes high standards of practice in adoption and fostering and social work with children and families. BAAF manages the Adoption Register for England and Wales. This is a database bringing together information on children waiting to be adopted and approved adopters. You can order many books and pamphlets about adoption from BAAF.

    The Post Adoption Centre provides a totally independent and comprehensive adoption support service for all those affected by adoption.
    These include:

    • A confidential telephone advice line
    • Support and help to adopted children around their life story and identity
    • Support and advice to adopted children and their families
    • A mediation and contact service to help set up contact arrangements with birth parents
    • Counseling and support groups for birthparents
    • Seminars and talks by experts and professionals working in adoption.

    This centre offers a confidential, specialist advice service, counseling and family work for anyone who has been involved in adoption.
